The
Hair and Nail Gallery Celebrate with Ribbon
Cutting
Members of the Franklin Chamber of Commerce held
a ribbon cutting ceremony recently to welcome
The Hair and Nail Gallery located at 232 Cunningham
Road, Suite 1.
Co-Owners Jessica Keyworth and Heather Afonso
opened their salon in October and are proud to
feature the Alterna Hemp Organics line along with
Kenra and Redken products. They offer a variety
of services including cut and style, color and
highlights, pedicures and manicures, along with
acrylic and gel nails. Jessica and Heather also
welcome the opportuioty to service your special
occasions.
The Hair and Nail Gallery is open Monday through
Friday 9 am to 5 pm and Saturday 9 am to 1 pm.

Ribbon Cutting Welcomes Sprinkles Ice Cream Parlor
Members of the Franklin Chamber of Commerce and
Town of Franklin held a ribbon cutting ceremony
recently to welcome Sprinkles Ice Cream Parlor
located at 236 Cunningham Road (next to Willy's
BBQ).
Holly Steil, Owner of Sprinkles says "Sprinkles
is alive and well. This 30 year old business is
under a new owner and welcomes everyone, young
and old alike. It's fun when a parent or grandparent
brings their kids in and tells me they ate ice
cream at Sprinkles when they were a kid. Come
on in, sit in our quaint shop and enjoy a scrumptious
dessert with a beautiful view of the mountain
range."
Sprinkles offers 32 flavors of Hershey old fashioned,
hand dipped ice cream serving floats, ice cream
sundaes, cones, banana splits, shakes, malts,
and smoothies. Summer store hours are Monday through
Saturday, noon to 7 pm.
Holly offers the parlor for parties and socials.
Bring a cake and she'll provide the drinks and
ice cream. After hour parties are available. Holly
also has an old fashioned ice cream cart available

Welcomes ACE Heating, A/C & Refrigeration
to Membership
The Franklin Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon
cutting recently to welcome Ace Heating, A/C &
Refrigeration to its membership. They are located
at 409 Highlands Road, Suite A.
Owners Joseph & Beverly Rich, David Hewett
and Robin Barton chose Franklin for the location
of their newest shop.
With over 30 years of experience, Ace provides
both residential & commercial, new installation
and repairs for heating, A/C, and commercial refrigeration.
They belong to the Better Business Bureau and
the Chamber of Commerce in Cashiers.
The Franklin shop covers Franklin, Highlands,
Cashiers, Sylva, Waynesville and Cherokee. While
the Murphy shop services Blairsville, Hayesville,
Robbinsville, Bryson City and Hiawassee, GA.
Beverly Rich said, "We are looking forward
to servicing this area and are so thankful for

Holds "Hot Tommy Dogs" Ribbon Cutting
The Franklin Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Joe
Collins were on hand recently for a ribbon cutting
ceremony welcoming Hot Tommy Dogs to the business
community.
Hot Tommy Dogs opened on May 1, 2008 and is located
at 1159 East Main Street, across from the Franklin
Fitness Center. Thomas Alligood is proud to serve
all beef "Red Hot" old-fashioned hot
dogs. "We're using an old family recipe for
our chili. It contains no beans or meat but is
made of all spices mixed together. Hot dogs are
served on a steamy split top bun. Combo specials
are available for as little as $2.75. Our menu
is expanding daily" Alligood said.

Chamber Teams with Gem Society
for 43rd Annual Macon CountyGemboree
Join
us this July in Franklin, NC for the 2nd longest
running gem & jewelry show in North Carolina.
The 43rd Annual Macon County Gemboree opens at
the Macon County Community Building just south
of Franklin on Thursday, July 24. The event is
co-sponsored by the Franklin Chamber of Commerce
and the Gem & Mineral Society of Franklin.
Gem and mineral dealers from across the country
will be on hand displaying and selling fine jewelry,
gems, minerals, beads and more against the backdrop
of the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina
Thursday, July 24 through Sunday, July 27.
The Macon County Gemboree will feature a wide
variety of items including fine finished jewelry,
rough and cut gems, lapidary equipment, minerals,
fossils and collectibles. Dealers will also be
available to custom make that special piece of
jewelry you’ve always dreamed of.
“All dealers who attend our Gemborees
return year after year because the Franklin shows
are among the best in the country,” said
Linda Harbuck, Executive Director of the Franklin
Chamber of Commerce. “We carefully select
the dealers who attend to make sure we have just
about anything folks could be looking for.”
Harbuck added that special displays setup by the
Gem & Mineral Society of Franklin add great
value to this show in contrast to similar shows
in the southeast.
Admission price is only $2.00 with those under
the age of 12 admitted free. Hours for the 43rd
Annual Macon County Gemboree are from 10:00am
to 6:00pm Thursday thru Saturday, 12 noon to 5:00pm

Chamber Publishs Annual
Community Magazine in Print & Online
The
2008 edition of Images of Macon County/Franklin,
a community magazine sponsored by the Franklin
Area Chamber of Commerce, was published in February.
Images of Macon County/Franklin is a vibrant,
newsstand-quality magazine that showcases the
best of Macon County/Franklin through its people,
places and progressive business climate. With
all new original photography and editorial features,
the 2008 publication focuses on specific areas
of education, the arts, sports and recreation,
health care, commerce and quality of life. It
will be used all year for the purpose of promoting
the community to prospective residents, new businesses
and visitors.
“Images of Macon County/Franklin 2008 illustrates
the great quality of life we enjoy in our community
and promotes our economic strength and growth
potential to new businesses,” says Chamber
Executive Director Linda Harbuck. “Best

More than 5,000 copies of the magazine will
be distributed through the Chamber and key local
businesses, as well as at trade shows, conferences
and events throughout the year.
