Balsam Range with Boxcars Concert

Balsam Range - From deep in the Appalachians where the Great Smoky Mountains meet the Blue Ridge comes the Balsam Range band, creatively blending Bluegrass, Folk, Gospel and Jazz into a new American asoustic music experience.  

The Boxcars - A few years later the name is synonymous with the five guys that make up this ground breaking band.  They do't sound like anyone else.  and yet they capture the excitement of the seminal bands that preceded them in the genre and combine it with cutting edge sounds of bluegrass today.  You can't replace chemistry between band members.  Add these guys have it.

Grace Baptist Church 's Yard Sale

Child Seat Safety Event

3 out of 4 car seats are installed incorrectly.  That means 75% of children are riding in cars and are not securely strapped in.  We want to change that.

There will be a check point set up for parents to drive through to get their seats checked to make sure they are properly installed.

Invasive Species Awareness Day

In celebration of North Carolina Invasive Plant Awareness Week, LTLT and Friends of the Greenway, Inc. will host an educational event at the Tassee Picnic Shelter on the Little Tennessee River Greenway.  Sponsored by Duke Energy, this event will include  experts from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, NC Forest Service, US Forest Service. Coweeta Hydrologic Lab, LTLT, Watershed Association of the Tuckasegee River, Western North Carolina Alliance and others, as they give brief presentations and answer questions about the identification, control and prevention of exotic invasive plants, animals and pathogens.  

A rain date has been set for Wednesday, April 9.

"Empty Bowls" Charity Event

AMC Road Rally

Where: New Cancer Center on Depot Street

Follow clues and cues to find your way along the mystery route in the 2nd Annual AMC Road Rally.  The start and end will be the new Cancer Center off of Depot Street.  Cost is $100 which includes lunch for two and a goodie bag with giveaways and coupons.

The proceeds from the Rally will be for the new Cancer Center.  The rally is open to any team with a licensed driver, a navigator to read the directions and instructions, and a roadworthy vehicle.  Additional participants are welcome to ride along but only 2 lunches and 1 goodie bag are provided with registration.  Additional lunches will be available for $7 each.

Each team will gather facts by following instructions and directions provided at the starting line and will be scored on a combination of information gathered and photos taken.  I know you will enjoy this rally as you solve clues and wind your way through our beautiful mountains.  Drivers must obey all traffic lights, signs and speed limits.

Cash prizes for the top three finishes.
