American Sign Language

This will be a time of fun and learning a new language.  At first, I will introduce American Sign Language (ASL).  Students will be exposed to basic language through: introductions, basic colors, family and more.  It is primarily survival level skills.  The course includes continued development of expressive and receptive skills while minimal simple conversational signing skills are emphasized through interactive exercises.  This class is taught exclusively in ASL without voices.

Bring Nature Indoors: A Wreath Making class

Weaving Your Scottish Attire

Vince Gill in Concert

Vince Gill has sold more than 26 million albums and he has earned 18 CMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year in 1993 and 1994.  He is tied with George Strait for having won the most CMA Male Vocalists Awards (five) and is currently second only to Brooks and Dunn for accumulating the most CMA Awards in history.  Gill is a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and has received 20 Grammy Awards to date, the most of any male country artist.  Besides being known of his talent as a performer, musician, and songwriter, Gill is regarded as one of country music's best known humanitarians, participating in hundreds of charitable events throughout his career.  In August of 2007, the Country Music Association inducted Gill as a member of the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame.

Tartan Day

"Tartan Day" a nationally recognized day commemorating the signing of the "Treaty of Arbroathe" for Scottish Independence in 1320.  Tours of the Scottish Tartans Museum are free of charge on Tartan Day.  Refreshments by the Friends of the Scottish Museum.  Museum hours:  10-5pm, 88 East Main Street, Gift Shop, Handicapped Entrance.  For information contact 828-524-7472.

AMC's 3rd Annual Macon Your Heart Beat 5K & 8K Run/Walk

When: 8:30 am
Where: Little Tennessee Tassee Park

Registration for the 1 mile walk/run is $25; thej 5K is $30 and the 8K is $30 before April 1st.  Registration costs after April 1 go up $5.  

Walkers/runners can register online at Active.com or by completing a registration form that cn be picked up at the hospital.  

The 1 mile run starts at 8:30 am, the 5K start time is 9:00 am and the 8K begins at 9:15am.  Race day registration begins at 7:30 am at the Tassee Shelter.

Proceeds beneif the Angel Medical Center Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program.  For additional information contact 349-8290.

SMPCC's Bar-B-Que Dinner

Grab your cowboy hat and step into your boots for Smoky Mountain Pregnancy Care Center's Bar-B-Que Dinner .  Prepared by Shane Corbin made especially with you in mind.  Evening of family fun with hayrides, dancing and Gospel, Bluegrass and Folk music provided by the Southern Appalachian Boys and other local talent.

Adults $10 and children 10 & under $5.

Gem Country Republican Women's Club Meeting

Annie Oakley is the best shot around and when Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show comes to town, he quickly snatches her up to become the star attraction.  However, it only takes one glance for her to fall head over heels for Frank Butler, the long-time featured act of Bill's show.  All is well until Frank begins to discover that Annie's abilities are quickly eclipsing his own, which is good for business but bad for romance.  Filled with classic Irving Berlin tunes, hilarious comedy and rousing dance numbers, Annie Get Your Gun solidifies the phrase "There's No Business Like Show Business."  A full two-act production presented by the Overlook Theatre Company.

With equal measures of pluck and positivty, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City.  She is determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan.  Along the way she meets the billionaire, Oliver Warbucks and his secretary, Grace Farrell who will change her life forever.  This one-act 60 minute version of the popular Broadway musical has been created especially for young actors.  Produced and performed by the Macon Middle School Chorus under the direction of Mr. Thomas Graham.
