Spring has sprung and the cold nights of winter are all but a faint memory that seem but a little dot in our review mirror. The Appalachian Trail through hiker season is in full swing, and downtown is buzzing with more than just sounds of the bumble bees. Longer days and warmer temps are bringing people out more, and we’re starting to see an uptick in our visitor traffic. Up the road a little ways, we’re watching the greens as they are beginning to show themselves along the Cullasaja River and waterfalls that provide visitors, and locals alike, the opportunity to enjoy the ever changing landscape.
Here are some of the sights currently being seen along Highway 64/Highlands Road
There are numerous picnic areas on Hwy 64, first come, first serve with grills for cookouts and tables for gathering around friends and family. A short drive that you could spend all day exploring, makes the Cullasaja River Gorge, Cullasaja River, and the numerous waterfalls, make a fantastic day trip anytime of the year!
