The Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce has a supply of personalized eclipse viewing glasses available for businesses to purchase and either resale or give to their customers.
Franklin and Nantahala are both in the direct path of the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse happening on August 21, 2017. The partial eclipse will begin shortly after 1 pm in Western North Carolina. The entire event will take about three hours as the moon slowly passes across the face of the sun.The total darkness viewing time for both communities will be 2 minutes and 36 seconds taking place at 2:35 p.m. Spectators must wear approved eclipse viewing glasses to protect their eyes when viewing any portion of the eclipse.
