For the second year in a row, Franklin, NC has been voted the Top Small Adventure Town 2016 by the readers of “Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine”. The voting took place on the popular magazine’s website and started back in the late summer. Voting rounds began in a bracket type format, pitting small towns vs other relatively same size towns. Franklin has been recognized now for the second year in a row, also winning the contest in 2015.
With access to numerous outdoor activities, including The Appalachian Trail, The Bartram Trail, waterfalls, fly fishing, kayaking and more, it is easy to see how Franklin is evolving into one of Western North Carolina’s must-see places to visit. Add to that our revitalized downtown with specialty shops, art galleries, historical museums, and more, all “book ended” by two of our most popular locations – The Lazy Hiker Brewing Co. and the Root N Barrel Kitchen. Enjoy a fine dinner after a day exploring the local trails or being out on the waters of the Little Tennessee River, then walk Main Street and window shop your way down to enjoy some of the finest craft beer and company in town. So whether you’re in town for a week, a weekend, or just passing through, we’re certain that you’ll agree, Franklin, NC is the place to be!
