With the passing of another Labor Day weekend, we say goodbye to summer and the fun in the sun mindset that goes with those hot sunny days and warm summer nights that we don’t want to end. The kids are heading back to school, moms and dads are back to work and it’s only a matter of weeks until the official end to summer arrives. With that, the sounds of the marching band, the shriek of a referee’s whistle and the roar of the home crowd at a Friday night football game symbolizes the new beginning that is Fall.
With the end of summer upon us, the time is coming quickly when the green will shift colors and autumn will paint the mountains of Franklin and western North Carolina with their magical hues. Fall is the peak tourist season here in the mountains. It’s the time of year most of us long for all year. The beautiful array of colors, the crisp, cool air of night, bright stars and a warm fire in the den bring people from all over the country, and the world, to our part of the mountains.
Whether you like to hike, mountain bike, waterfall hop or just love to take in the scenic views of the many places in Franklin to see the colors, the time will be upon us sooner than later, so be sure to make your plans now to visit us here in the peak leaf season, which usually falls in mid-late October. Fall also brings lots of great activities and festivals, such as, the annual Pumpkin Fest in downtown Franklin that draws thousands to the world famous Pumpkin Roll. Stay tuned in the weeks to come for more information on some of these fun and interesting events that are a great getaway all on their own.
